Overview
This series of composite air vents is suitable for installation at pump discharge outlets or in water supply and distribution pipelines. They are designed to remove large accumulations of air from the pipeline, as well as to vent small amounts of air that may collect at higher points in the pipeline into the atmosphere. This helps improve the efficiency of both the pipeline and the pumping equipment. Moreover, when negative pressure occurs within the pipeline, this valve promptly draws in ambient air to prevent damage caused by such negative pressure.
Operating principle
When water begins to be injected into the pipe, the plug remains in the open position, allowing large volumes of air to escape. Once all the air has been expelled, water starts accumulating inside the valve, causing the float to rise and the piston to move to the closed position, thereby stopping the excessive air venting. As normal water flow resumes in the pipe, if a small amount of air accumulates inside the valve to a certain extent, the water level within the valve will drop, causing the float to descend as well. At this point, the air is released either through the small hole in the valve or via the small opening of the automatic air-release valve. When the pump stops and the pipe becomes empty of water, or when negative pressure develops inside the pipe, the piston rapidly opens, drawing in air to ensure the pipeline’s safety.
